How Romney Fibs—and Gets Away With It - Blame it on the media embrace of false equivalency.

"Romney sharpens criticism of Obama." "Romney blasts Obama's 'hide and seek' presidency."
These were some of the headlines accompanying media reports of Mitt Romney's speech to the Newspaper Association of America on Wednesday. The GOP front-runner's address was a harsh assault on President Barack Obama and marked another effort on Romney's part to present himself as the inevitable Republican nominee and to strike at the incumbent president rather than his remaining and hobbling-along GOP primary rivals. But as important—if not more so—as his biting and sarcastic tone was the fact that Romney repeatedly tossed off false accusations against Obama. And he did so—and got away with this—in front of a large audience of journalists.
At the start of his remarks, Romney praised the media—while noting he was sometimes irked by coverage of his campaign—and nobly observed that voters will be "informed by your coverage" and will "hopefully…have an accurate understanding" of the 2012 race and the choice at hand, due to hard-working journalists chronicling the contest. But then Romney went on to hurl a series of utterly untrue remarks. READ MORE

Mitt Romney Doesn't Have Enough Information To 'Take A Stand' On Afghanistan

WASHINGTON -- More than a decade into the war in Afghanistan, GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney does not have enough information to "take a stand" on whether troops should remain or continue to withdraw on the timetable set by President Obama.
"Before I take a stand, I want to get input [from military leaders] that are there," Romney said on "Fox News Sunday." "General [John] Allen is coming to Washington and testifying about what the conditions are," he noted, adding that some conclusions can already be drawn. He wants to be your President READ MORE HERE

Donald Trump is moderating a Republican presidential debate.

Yes, you read that right! The conservative Newsmax magazine told the New York Times that it has teamed up with Trump — America's most famous birther/maybe-candidate — to moderate a Republican debate in Des Moines, Iowa on Dec. 27. The debate will air on the Ion cable network. It's not clear how many candidates have agreed to fit the new session into their already-clogged debate schedules.

This will put the Republican party deeper in the sewer, hopefully so deep that they can't ever get out.

What has our political system come to? Donald Trump to host a supposed legitament presidential debate? A self-styled "birther" is about to make a mockery of our system

Martin Bashir: Herman Cain Should Resign From His Church Over Affair Allegations

MSNBC host Martin Bashir called on Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain to resign from his church over his alleged 13-year affair with an Atlanta woman.

The radical dangers of Mitt Romney's America

Mitt Romney may not be the Republican presidential nominee yet, but Democrats are already tearing into him with an ad that highlights his history of flip-flops.
As president, the shape-shifting Republican would bow to the far Right — and sacrifice many of the programs and ideals that make this nation great

One of the nation's most prominent columnists told me in the past few days that he had almost written that Mitt Romney was the inevitable Republican nominee, but at the last minute, pulled back and hedged his prediction with a formulaic qualifier. Not me. For months, I've been boldly stating that it's Romney. After all, I asked, who the hell else have they got?

Well, right now, Newt Gingrich — ahead in Iowa, closing in New Hampshire, pulling away in South Carolina, beating Romney by the astounding margin of 47 percent to 17 percent in the probable rubber-match state of Florida. Can it last? Is the year so weird that the traditional metrics — money, organization, a long-term strategic plan — don't matter, or won't make enough of a difference? I still believe, logically, perhaps stubbornly, that in the end, the unpalatable Romney is likely to prevail over the improbable Gingrich or some last hour, unthinkable incarnation of yet another non-Mitt. President Obama playing chess the Republicans planning checkers

Would you want to play chess against this man?

Here’s how to negotiate, GOP-style: Begin by making outrageous demands. Bully your opponents into giving you almost all of what you want. Rather than accept the deal, add a host of radical new demands. Observe casually that you wouldn’t want anything bad to happen to the hostage you’ve taken — the nation’s well-being. To the extent possible, look and sound like Jack Nicholson in “The Shining.”

South Central LA Tea Party to Protest Against NAACP....N&$$er Please...tea party in the hood

The Christian Newswire exults this headline like a halleluiah: The South Central LA Tea Party, in a move that is supposed to show that the Tea Party is not all-white and all-racist, holding a protest against the NAACP. This anti-NAACP protest is their inaugural event – against the NAACP’s 102nd annual convention in Los Angeles on July 24. Just to make its point, this is a black-led chapter of the Tea Party. Yes, there are a few black Tea Partiers dodging all those Confederate flags and racial slurs, just as there are a few gay Republicans.

The South Central LA Tea Party is led by Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson, a black conservative. Peterson is to the Tea Party what Herman Cain is to the GOP. Peterson, who is President of BOND Action (The Brotherhood Organization of a New Destiny) says “The NAACP is a tool of the Obama administration.” Full Story Here

Black Conservatives ….Ni&&#@ Please!

Timothy F. Johnson chairman of Frederick Douglass Foundation

"Black Republicans find themselves always having to prove who they are. Because the assumption is the Republican Party is for whites and the Democratic Party is for blacks," he said. Johnson and other black conservatives say they were drawn to the tea party movement because of what they consider its commonsense fiscal values of controlled spending, less taxes and smaller government. The fact that they're black—or that most tea partyers are white—should have nothing to do with it, they say.
